Voxio (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a language learning application that helps you practice speaking through AI-powered conversations. This Privacy Policy explains what data is processed when you use the app and how it is handled.

Summary

• We do not require an account, and we do not collect your name or email by default.
• Your conversations and settings are primarily stored locally on your device.
• When you use features like speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and AI chat, your audio/text is sent to our API and then to OpenAI for processing.
• We store minimal server-side data to support app functionality, such as daily usage time, premium status, and basic settings.

Information We Process

Information you provide

• Audio recordings you choose to record for speech-to-text, if you use that feature.
• Text input you send during conversations, such as messages and prompts.
• Preferences such as selected language, difficulty, voice choice, and practice settings.

Information processed automatically

• Device-generated user ID — a random identifier created on your device to link usage and settings.
• Usage statistics such as daily practice time and conversation counts.
• Premium status indicating whether premium features are enabled.

How We Use This Information

• Provide core services: speech-to-text, AI responses, text-to-speech, and feedback features.
• Improve your experience: remember your preferences and show your progress.
• Usage tracking: support daily usage limits for free users and track practice duration.

Third-Party Services

OpenAI

Voxio uses OpenAI services to process audio and text and generate AI conversation responses, such as transcription and chat replies. The data you submit for these features is sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI’s handling of data is governed by their own policies.

Google Cloud

Voxio uses Google Cloud Text-to-Speech services to generate spoken audio responses. Text content required to generate speech is sent to Google for processing. Google processes this data according to its own privacy and security policies.

Cloudflare

Our API is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. We may store minimal app-related data in a Cloudflare D1 database, such as usage totals, premium status, and basic settings. Cloudflare processes requests and provides infrastructure services.

Data Storage

Stored locally on your device

• Conversation history and transcripts, if enabled in the app
• Language preferences and settings
• Weekly goals and progress

This local data stays on your device unless you delete it or uninstall the app.

Stored on our servers (minimal)

• Device-generated user ID
• Daily practice time, measured in seconds per day
• Premium status
• Optional settings, stored as JSON

Audio data

Audio recordings are transmitted for real-time processing when you use speech-to-text. We do not intentionally store raw audio files on our servers as part of normal app operation.

Data Retention

• Local data: stored until you delete the app or clear app data.
• Server-side minimal data: retained as needed to operate the app, such as usage limits and premium status.

Your Rights and Choices

• Access: you can view most information, like history and settings, inside the app.
• Delete local data: uninstalling the app removes locally stored data.
• Request deletion of server-side data: contact us and include your device-generated user ID.
• Control recording: you control when audio is recorded and sent.

Security

Data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS. We use reasonable technical measures to protect the services we operate. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Children’s Privacy

Voxio is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

International Processing

Your data may be processed by service providers in countries other than your country of residence.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last Updated” date above when changes are made.
